At L&T KENNELS, located in Southern New Jersey, Tom and Laura DiPietro train/board dogs using a method created and developed by Brad Higgins. Hence, the method we use will be referred to as the “Higgins Method”. The Higgins Method is not based on obedience, repetition, pressure or shock collars. Instead, we allow the dogs to teach themselves to be steady thru cooperation and success. With the Higgins Method the bird teaches the dog to be steady. Because of the method we use at L&T KENNELS, we are able to work with four and five month old pups. Allowing pups to chase birds builds confidence in themselves, at this time we also introduce young pups to the sound of gunfire. We also work with older dogs that have had little to no training or experience in the field, as well as the seasoned dog that has picked up bad habits along the way or has been mis-handed and needs to be rehabilitated.
